Activities Jun-July 2017
.) During this month Uplift Charity donated two cars to refugee families who were in desperate need. These cars help them to commute between work and home in a timely manner, stabilizing their jobs. We encourage our donors, community members and supporters to donate cars as this helps those in need and makes a major positive impact on their lives.
.) Uplift Charity has helped families who are in need of food items by conducting our very first food pantry distribution at the West Coast Islamic Center in Anaheim. Distributions will occur on the second Saturday of each month.
.) This month our team has assisted many of the relatively new refugees to become registered students in their local community college where they will begin their journey in developing their communication skills and learn other valuable skills for employment.
.) We would like to extend a sincere thank-you to the community members who are donating meat on a monthly basis. This kind of donation benefits people such as asylum seekers since they are not eligible for government assistance food programs.
.) Our team assisted many refugees from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan with much-needed furniture and other household items. We also connected them to social service benefits. We want to extend a sincere thank-you to our community members who donated their furniture to the newly arrived refugee families.
.) Our team attended the Muslim Charities Association meeting to discuss issues faced by the Muslim community in California and look for solutions to those issues.
.) The Uplift team also took part in the United Way OCFSA meeting wherein issues pertaining to workforce development were discussed.
.) Our team attended the Orange County Refugee Forum in Anaheim to discuss major contemporary issues affecting refugees.
.) The Uplift team conducted several outreach events in Mosques across Orange County, Corona and Riverside to inform people of the work that Uplift Charity does.
