HOW WE CARE for OUR COMMUNITY
As of September 2021, Uplift Charity has been appointed as the local affiliate for Refugee Resettlement in Orange County by the ECDC & the Department of State Office of Refugee Population and Migration. Since then we have helped over 500 families become self-sufficient upon their arrival to the U.S.
From the day our clients arrive at the airport, our case workers are there. Our services include assistance with:
REFUGEE TUTORING
Volunteer Tutors are needed to help refugee kids with school work and cultivating a mentorship. The primary goal of this program is to help refugees with their school work and cultivate a mentorship. We focus on grade school refugees; these students often need the one-on-one attention to prevent them from falling behind in school. We want to ensure that these students are given every opportunity to succeed, starting with their education.
MONTHLY FOOD PANTRY
Uplift Charity organizes a monthly Food Pantry, and we need regular volunteers to help assemble 200-300 boxes of pantry staples, register clients and distribute food boxes at the event.
FURNITURE DELIVERIES
Uplift Charity also accepts furniture from our generous donors and delivers these items to our clients. Items can include larger furniture such as beds, dining tables etc. and we can always use dedicated volunteers to help pick up and drop off these items.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Uplift Charity Backpack Donations
We host a number of special events throughout the year including our Eid Carnival, Winter blanket and food drives, Iftar with the Homeless during Ramadan, and special job preparation workshops. If you are unable to make a regular commitment for some of our ongoing programs, we would love to see you at some of our special events throughout the year.
COMMITTEE LEADERS
We would love to have you become an even bigger part of the Uplift Charity community by becoming a committee lead. These could range from being a part of our fundraising team, social media, marketing and branding, or any other special skill you might have.
